Major Academic Events: Alan Turing graduated from the King's College in 1934 and went to Princeton for his Ph.D. in mathematics
Contributions to Computer Science: He contributed to computer science by helping break down the coded Enigma messages of the Germans. This was a major breakthrough in the world of computer science because from there, he was able to discover new ways to crack codes using software. Later on, he considered making a "mechanical brain" which he called "artificial life". This was the first outline for artificial intelligence.
